The outset of any year is an ideal time for reflection and perspective. Where are we now and what is our vision for the future? Like our students, our organizational need to learn and improve is a constant.
Defining our objectives and focusing our efforts is our institutional aim for 2017. By this fall, we will have in place an integrated three-year strategic plan – a practical and adaptable tool to help us move towards our goal of becoming one of California’s best community colleges.
The establishment of a strategic plan will enable us to better assess our overall effectiveness and resource allocation. It will set out a vision of a modern institution that sustains itself by delivering quality, relevant programming for our students and greater community.
The process will get underway with an All College Review of the Mission, Values & Vision on January 27, 2017 from 12-2pm. This planning session will be followed by a Community Charrette, an important opportunity to hear feedback from our institutional partners and industry leaders, on February 23 from 3:00-6:00 PM in the Black Box Theatre.
These steps will help us do the following over the coming months:
- Link our vision, priorities, people and physical institution within a flexible system of evaluation, decision-making and action;
- Shape and guide the entire organization as it evolves over time and within the community;
- Consolidate planning in enrollment management, equity, student services, information technology, basic skills, facilities and master planning (among other areas).
